Because people who don’t understand Chepauk, try.

“Hey! Guess what! I did not have anything to write about. But I can still complain and make a half page write-up. So cool of me.”
All these people from Madras who complain about the city should have their heads immersed in a steaming hot cup of morning coffee and made to read the entire contents of The Hindu including its supplements.

IPL took cricket to people who dont understand Chepauk. That is its victory. Else cricket was confined to old iyer mamas yapping about grace of Kanhai

  3. Nilu Says:

As a wise man once said, success is achieved by defining it.

a whole bunch of my fraternity - tv production & channels — had hoped that you would be right….. but there is no accounting for audience taste :

    i personally find the show ( i can’t think of it as a match ) confusing …. !

  5. Someone Says:

Your definitions remind me of yettaaam class ambika miss

  6. Nilu Says:

    Harini,

TV Ratings for the inaugural event cannot be taken as any measure of success. It will have to be defined by several things — continued patronage of the league once the novelty is lost, its impact on international cricket and the nature of audience it attracts.

  7. Sriram Says:

I myself had been part of a mexican wave in chepauk atleast twice.

  8. Nilu Says:

No expansion. The thrill of The Hindu is to get a letter published without it being edited in any way. North Indians will never get it.

  9. Sriram Says:

One question. Apart from Nilu, who else is qualified to write about Chepauk ?

    Nilu
    i definitely hope so.. ! :)
one of the tv specialised information services had done a very good analysis on IPL from the business point of view … and especially the problem in building brands or teams in 40 days, followed by the gap of a year followed by another 40 days…
but, atleast in its initial burst it has far out performed expectations as a TV event.

  11. Nilu Says:

    Sriram,

If the woman is hot, she is. If the man is wealthy, he might.

  12. tasty Says:

40 days? Is that how long the season is?

I never thought it was sustainable. Now I don’t think it has any hope.
