“Kallai mattum kandaal kadavul theriyaadhu” is a good song ;-).

  2. kundi Says:

In other news, Amitabh Bachchan’s blog has no Google Ads.

  3. kundi Says:

Also Israel have voted for a National Bird: The Hoopoe, which beat off stiff competition from the kingfisher, red falcon, spur-winged plover, Griffon vulture, and the finch, among others.

    Edge of the seat stuff.

  4. I Says:

amitabh bachan should not have a blog.

  5. Vijay, Cardiff, United Kingdom Says:

Im just back from watching ‘Dasavatharam’ at cineworld. I wonder what to write about it. .

Its absoultely a 3 hour 140 crore $40 million dollar blunder. Where can I start. The opening was really good and slowly the Computer Graphics showed the clues of what was going to come.

There were whistles in the air when the world actor was shown on screen and it felt like India for a minute. But after that none in the theatre uttered a word other than a couple of laughs here and there.

Usually we get to see a lot of hollywood movie previews before any show and all of us in the room were expecting a movie that equals in technology and CG from dasavatharam because of its hollywood budget. But we felt so bad in the end that we felt like we were all let down by our favorite star.

    The Good

    Kamals Acting

    The Bad

    MAKE UP
Even the most low buget movie ever produced in India will have a better make up man from the one that was hired to do in this movie. Utterly fake and is bluntly shown on screen with out any post production. That one mistake from the great actor has cost him the whole movie. As he dons 10 roles in the movie, 9 out 10 looks like a MAKE UP DISASTER. Whether it was the social sc worker who was too black or the old grandma who looked like a melted candle stick with bad paint or the english villian who looks like a doll with a gun and fake glasses or the Japanese Man who looks like Chinese guy with 3rd degree burns on his face. It was a big big blunder..even you would say, I could have dont a better job for you Kamal Sir why hire an Idiot to do it.

    THE COMPUTER GRAPHICS
For most of you who do not know about CG I will give you an info almost 70% of this movie is Computer Generated…you know why. When you have to sync two characters potrayed by the same actor on one screen, you have to use CG for that. Which is why you might notice that 70% of the movie was ruined by the children who where given the oppurtunity to create the Graphics for this movie. I call the CG artists of this movie children because even my class mates who majored in Animation will not be able to make such CG BLUNDERS even if they tried. I think most of my class mates had better CG than this film on their final year projects. Kamal Ji you just offered your lovely movie in a platter to a bunch of CG Monkeys who have absolutely no idea what CG is, they have clearly proved their worth by Creatively turning your movie to Absolute Crap. When 70% of your movie is ruined by these guys you dont have to worry any further on where the movie will go next –Trash.

    THE DIRECTOR
Why would a world actor appoint a brilliant mind like Mr.K.S. Ravikumar to direct his wonderful movie?
    Ans:
So that the whole world comes to know that Mr.K.S.Ravikumar has absolutely no idea how to make a movie. Why would you have to spend $35 million dollars to prove that. To know whether or not he is capable all you should have done is ask him some basic questions on Film Making. I guess his answer would be ‘Kamal Sir is Great’. I know Kamal would have directed this movie if he had the time but he still appointed this guy so as to share responsibility. Who can blame the all perfect Kamal. Its like when a perfect world is filled with imperfect humans. The imperfect humans being the camera man, cg director, director, makeup artist.

    The Camera Man
All Mr. Ravi Varman did was drag the camera through out every set of the movie with a Jimmy Jib- its a crane. Basically the lighting was so bad that it made the whole film look like it was an extract from a Tamil Serial. I guess he did not use a Arri Flex -Movie camera at all for this movie because i never saw a scene in the movie that was Film like.

    THE MUSIC
Complete Crap - the background score was so bad that it felt nothing like a big budget movie.

    THE PRODUCER
Im really sorry about your loss but you have to move on. Every one makes mistakes like you even I have done the same long time back when I had 140 crores;(

Finally if you are a die hard fan of Kamal you can watch this film once without hating him. But dont try watching it again.

  6. h Says:

    Now who/what is amitab bachchan?

  7. Sriram Says:

    amitahbh bachchan shouldnt be.

  8. Kundi Says:

Choose: Shark piss or alligator fart?

  9. Jay Says:

Movie Dasavatharam was a good movie.

It didnt have the sex, glamour and guns of DONS of Bollywood.

The concept is difficult to understand for LAYMEN.

It is loosely woven around Chaos theory and Butterfly effect.
    The technology part was good.

There are small flaws like the makeup of Tall afghan kamal and the old lady.

Apart from that, it is impeccable.

    Kudos to Kamal!

  10. kundi Says:

    Vijay,

You certainly came to the right place.

  11. karapaampuchi Says:

Vijay, Cardiff: You are wasting your time here. Go do the job for your client and come back to India soon.

  12. Raj Says:

It’s really a utter flummery movie. It will make an end to KAMAL era in
    Tamil Cinema World.

It would be last movie from kamal’s story-dircetion-screenplay and also
    making fools of audience.

If this is India ,surely the movie will be end of kamal

  13. TRUE THOUGHTS AND FLICKS Says:

    DASAVATHARAM - Points to Ponder

    READER WARNING :
THESE VIEWS MAY CREATE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS IN YOUR MIND ABOUT THE FILM.

    01. Kamal Hassan has done an amazing job with his 10 characters. However by concentrating a lot on these 10 characters, we think he got distracted and neglected many important things in the film.

    02. For the 14th century scene a lot of actors, properties and sets have been used. However in whole it does look grand. It doesn’t look like a proper colour grading is done to bring the out the best. Most of our viewers have seen films like Gladiator, Kind Aather, Hero, The Kingdom of Heaven, 300, Ashoka, Rang de Basanthi and many more. The grandness these films had in each frame is missing in Dhasavadharam’s 14th century scene. One reason could be because of the camera angels. Too many zoom ins and zoom outs. There is no colour equilibrium.

    03. The elegance which was in movies such a Minority Report, Pay Back, Resident Evil is missing Dhasavatharam’s biological lab. The lab looks like a secondary school lab and doesn’t inspire at all.
There is something wrong with the production design.

    04. Our viewers have seen a lot of car chases. They want to see something different. We can cater the same old stuff. Bourn sequel had some mind blowing car chases. Especially the Bourn Supremacy’s moscow car chase. The car chase what we had in Dhasawadharam is so kiddish. BTW were the cars right hand driven or left hand driven? We heard them saying they are in the US.

    05. The parcel submitted at MAS Kargo is delivered by FedEx. We need to double check if this is possible. It’s funny to see customer service executives shouting at customers in a western country. This will happen only in Tamil Films.

    06. Screen writer is influenced by ‘Sin City’. Villain resembles a character from that movie. At times villain jumps against Newton’s law. It make the movie more “Indian”

    07. They have put a lot of hard work with the make up. But the characters with mask look like puppets. The make-up looks so unreal. Normally this happens, however these issues will be adjusted in the post production while doing the colour grading. This is not done in Dhasawatharam.

    08. 3D and Composition look really bad in certain scenes. They don’t look photo realistic.

    09. The New York city bush scene looks clumsy. They have transfered a video footage to film where bush is coming in a limo. They could have recreated the whole scene. This is not for a university assignment. This is a film for real viewers.

    10. Looks like Ravi Varman - Cinematographer has become an addict to 3D computer games. Dhasavadharam has a lot of scenes that look like video games. Doesn’t look nice on a film of this nature.

    11. Overall production value is not very good. Our viewers have started noticing higher production value in films such as “Billa” “Aalavanthan” etc. Even 12 years ago itself “Thiruda Thiruda” had a very high production value.

    Bottom-line:

Kamal Hassan could have sacrificed his “Dhasa-Avatars” (Ten Avatars) and acted only in one character and assigned suitable actors for the rest of the 9 roles.
Could have made more civilized film with a higher production value by concentrating more on the technical side.

It’s a fact that Kamal Hassan has sincerely worked hard to make this film a success. Undoubtedly “Dhasavatharam” will become a box office hit. The screenplay has a good flow from the beginning to the end. Anyone will find this movie exciting. This doesn’t mean that the film is a perfect piece.

Every magazine that comes out of Tamil Nadu is blindly praising Kamal Hassan and over estimating the film “Dhasavatharam” . Many of them have stated that “Dhasavatharam” is like a Hollywood movie.

We wanted to express our unbiased views about “Dhasavatharam”.
This would have explained why “Dhasavatharam” can’t compete or can’t be compared with Hollywood movies. Hope the producers and the creators of “Dhasavatharam” will understand our views and take them positively.

What a waste of time. Dont even tink of watching this movie. Next time i will read the review before watchin Kamals movies.

  15. The Real Review Says:

A best actor stole (from some Asst Director) a superb story line which was new and different
and has given his best performance choosing 10 key roles in the story. With nothing more
(Story + Kamals roles), the movie has ended up like a normal tamil movie. Don’t know how
    they spent the Rs.60 Crore.

    The Story
“Everything that happens is for a purpose and happens as planned by the Supreme Power”.
You will have to sit and think after comming out of the movie, why they were showing the
12th century events? Why Asin is there for 2 roles one in 12th century and one in current?
What are 10 roles of Kamal? Are they necessary? Yes. Obsolutely. Climax was ultimate.
Don’t ask about the story from anybody. Just go watch without any expectation.

    The Acting
“Ulaga Nayagan has given his Ulaga performance”. Kamal has given his 101% of his talent.
It was like watching 10 different persons. None of the role was boring or useless. I accept,
it was amazing to think all the 10 roles are the same person (1 role 10 mins = 10*10= 100 Mins)
1 hour and 30 minutes of just Kamal on screen in a fast phased movie.

    The Hype
After watching the movie, it was very obvious that Kamal found a wonderful oppurtunity to
present his acting talence the best with this right story line and he utilized just that.
No improvements or new ideas were there in other areas to distinguish this costly movie
by the masters from a regular tamil movie. Graphics was 3rd rated. During an era where
dinasours show expression, the Make up for Kamals roles were very visible and unexpressive.
It fit best for the Japanese role (where not much facial expression was required). The
12th century scenes were like a rich tamil drama scenes. The lighting of the scene spoiled
all the efforts of the peoples acting and resources used. I don’t know when tamil cini
technicians will stop making “Raja Scenes” in broad daylight. Again the very good starting
song was wasted by the same above. Lots of technical advanements are available today with
which those scenes could have been made more dramatical and serious. But kamal was busy
with his roles and makeup, while KS.Ravikumar was busy arraning food for all. Don’t know
how many will understand the story in full because the background kamal who starts the
movie does not finish it properly as the story writer intended. The great expectation to
see all the 10 roles in one screen was not there. It is so basic that the director and
kamal forgot about it. If this movie (story+Kamal) was done with more knowledgeable
directors and technicians, possibly would have resulted in a real great tamil movie.
Kamal has to learn to work in team. I still don’t understand what did they do to spend
Rs.60 crore to make this movie.

    The Others
Somethings that are worth mentioning since they stood out from regular tamil cinema.
The stunt by the Japanese role with Fletcher was new to tamil cinema and was fantastic.
Other than Asin there was no usual tamil over acting by any actor in any of the scenes.
Music was not top notch, but was very good for this movie standards. The dance and song
by Sikh role was very good and different than the usual tamil group dance sequences.
