The half-life of a blog

Friday, September 5th, 2008

A hedge fund’s average life may be three years, but a blog’s average life is 1.5 years. If you are working at the same hedge fund (unless your name is on the door) for more than 3 years or reading the same blog for more than 1.5 years, something is wrong with you, dear operations clerk or reader.

The best way to kill a blog is to write a book. Some blogs like Maami, Tamizh Penn, Neha seem to have many books in them, though I wonder if any of them will ever write even one. I prefer reading Abha Dawesar’s blogs to her books. It is a rare author who can carry off both.

Maamas are meant to be asexual, asamanjam, abhishtus. They are not meant to blog. They should work in EID Parry for many years and then retire. Nilu began his blog as an anti-maama blog, but then it became an anti-mamma blog and now it is ………. Avataram has only one post in him, and he should have never been allowed to write it even once.  Othernilu and Gasquet fan and Chockalingam had many books in them. One wonders where they are.

Agony

Revered Jagadguru,

I read this and then this. Then, I laughed.

Please tell me what my penance should be.

Mournfully,

Nilu
